A Sneak Peek - Celebrity Big Brother House
Take a first glimpse of the Celebrity Big Brother House. This year the Celbrity Big Brother House is looking more awesome and chic. Let's face it, it doesnt matter what the economy is and the type of recession is it passing through, the makers of the show are putting in more and more to it. The glamorous house will be welcoming its participants on Friday.
The house will amaze its participants with marble bathroom's with gold taps and gold statues. The bathroom also has velvet covered marble sofas with sequined cushions. Smoking will not be allowed inside the house, so there are some sofa sets kept in the garden outside to enjoy the time. The house also has a mini gym, so that celebrities can pass time and keep themselves fit. The yard has a mangle and basket, which will be used by the celebrities to wash their clothes. It has a spacious bedroom where celebrities will be relaxing. The complete design is so special that one wont want to leave the place.
The celebrities who will participating in the Big Brother show and being welcomed by the house are: Ulrika Jonsson, Mutya Buena, Tina Malone, Lucy Pinter and also the famous character in Austin Powers Mini-me, Verne Troyer.
This year the Big Brother Show also show cases a Jail in the Yard where mis-behaving celebrities would be put. Celebrity Big Brother begins live on 9 p.m on Friday, January 2 on Channel 4.

(Yes, nearly a pound of fat loss a week!) That's what a study from the University of North Carolina found. Americans today drink about 192 gallons of liquid a year—or about 2 liters a day. To put it into perspective, this is nearly twice as many calories as we did 30 years ago. Is that amazing or not.

An Austrian Designer and Jeweler Peter Aloisson has surprised the public with designing the new iPhone 3G and naming it "Kings Button". They had earlier rolled out the first iphone "Princess", for a price tag of $176,400. This new iPhone 3G designed by them is a Designer Phone and is made of solid 18 carat yellow Gold, white Gold and rose Gold. The white Gold edition is made up of a total 138 diamonds which are beautifully designed to fit. The most surprising thing in this phone is the Home button has a rare 6.6 carat Diamond.

3. A Ranch Raided
It began with a late March tip to Texas police: a 16-year-old girl at a Texas polygamist sect's remote ranch was complaining of both physical and mental abuse. Within a few weeks, it had become one of the largest child custody cases in U.S. history. On April 3, more than 430 children and 100 mothers were removed from the Yearning for Zion Ranch after after a judge ruled them in imminent danger. The Ranch is part of the Fundamentalist Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints , a breakaway Mormon sect. Its leader, Warren Jeffs, had been convicted in 2007 of forcing a 14-year-old girl into marriage and sexual relations. Yet the authorities struggled to prove their case, and after the Texas Supreme Court ruled the state acted improperly, all but three dozen of the youngsters were returned to their home by early June. Still, nine men from the ranch have been indicted on charges that include sexual assault of a child, bigamy and failure to report child abuse.
4.The dungeon of Amstetten
Josef Fritzl owned a large, non-descript suburban house in Amstetten, Austria. But his cellar was allegedly a dungeon for his daughter Elisabeth. According to police and press acounts, he not only kept her imprisoned there but 24 years but fathered seven children with her. One child of this incestuous union apparentely died in infancy and Fritzl disposed of the body in the furnace. The horrific details — including the fact tenants through the years at the Fritzl home were never aware of that a woman was being kept prisoner right next to them — became one of the biggest global tabloid stories of the year. Fritzl, 73, is expected to go on trial in 2009 on charges of rape, false imprisonment, slavery and murder. Authorities contend that the infant who perished may have survived if Fritzl had sought medical care. His daughter Elisabeth is now 42 years old. She, her surviving children (three of whom lived in the cellar; three in the upper floors) and her mother are undergoing counseling.
5. A Missing Child
Nearly six months after she disappeared on June 15, police have still found no trace of three-year-old Caylee Anthony. But they do have a suspect: her mother. On Oct. 14, an Orlando, Fla. grand jury indicted Casey Anthony, 22, on murder charges, which could carry the death penalty. The young mother reported her daughter missing July 15, telling police she had left Caylee with a babysitter a month earlier. Anthony was immediately arrested as the authorities set out on a nationwide hunt for the missing toddler. What they found instead were 1,200 pages worth of evidence against her mother. Most damning? Anthony's abandoned car, which lab tests revealed traces of a decomposing body and chloroform.
6. A Bus Beheading
t's the stuff of urban legend: As a Greyhound bus travels through Canada, a man stabs and beheads his seatmate as fellow passengers look on. Except that the horrific scene was all too real. In August, dozens of witnesses say Vince Weiguang Li, 40, attacked fellow traveler 22-year-old Tim McLean without provocation as the bus drove through Manitoba province. Li allegedly stabbed McLean several dozen times as others fled the bus. The Chinese immigrant then severed McLean's head, displaying it for other passengers to see, before he began hacking at the body. Police reports allege Li then began to cannibalize the corpse. Li remains in jail on second-degree murder charges.
7. The Killing of the Anchorwoman
Could the death of Anne Pressley have been a random murder, as the police in Little Rock, Arkansas, have said? If so, the victim was hardly a random person. Anne Pressley was a popular local anchorwoman and had had a small role in Oliver Stone's W, a bio-pic about George Bush. (Pressley played an Ann Coulter-like TV personality who praised the President's "mission accomplished" moment in the Iraq war.) She had just come back from watching the movie when she was brutally beaten in her home in a posh part of the Arkansas city. Her jaw was so badly pummeled that bone was exposed. Her mother found her body in the morning and Pressley died five days after. Police have charged Curtis Lavelle Vance with the crime. Vance has denied any involvement.
8. France's $7 Billion Bank Bust
As the year began, the venerable Societe Generale — France's second largest bank — found itself trying to explain just how a mid-level futures trader had managed to lose $7 billion in a rogue operation without anyone noticing. On Jan. 24, bank officials acknowledged that Jerome Kerviel, 31, had committed what could amount to one of the biggest insider frauds in banking history. Using his knowledge of internal security controls, Kerviel allegedly hid dozens of improper trading positions with faked hedging transactions and client authorizations — risking up to $63 billion of Societe General's money. As world markets tumbled in early 2008, those positions amounted to billions of dollars in losses for the bank. Kerviel's motives remain unclear: the young trader personally saw no profit from the scheme. In fact, he continues to claim he never hid what he was doing from bank officials.

Clark Rockefeller's yarn was so extraordinary that no one thought to question its veracity. Claiming to be a scion of the Rockefeller dynasty, he joined prestigious clubs, gained prominent friends and married a socialite. He collected expensive art, securing an affluent life in rural Vermont for himself, his wife Sandra Boss and their seven-year old daughter Reigh. But after divorcing Boss in 2007, that tale began to unwind. In late July, the man calling himself Clark Rockefeller was arrested after the bizarre alleged kidnapping of Reigh during a custodial visit in Boston. Police then discovered he was actually German-born Christian Gerhartsreiter, with a record of swindling. Police have also connected him to the 1985 disappearance of a California couple from whom — under yet another alias — Gerhartsreiter rented an apartment. He has pleaded not guilty to the kidnapping charges and denies involvement in the California disappearance.

Lakers win end the 19 game winning streak for Boston Celtics

Investor In Madoff Fund Found Dead
Thierry Magon de la Villehuchet, 65, a co-founder of Access Internation, was found dead in his office in Madison Avenue, Manhattan. Mr. Villehuchet had invested around $1.5 Billion in the Madoff's run Hedge Fund. He found in a pool of blood after slashing his wrists at his desk in New York. He had cut his wrists with box cutters revealed the police sources.
The source has also confirmed that Mr. Villehuchet may also have taken sleeping pills and there was no suicidal note. On Monday night, Mr. Villehuchet told his cleaning crews in his building to leave by 7 p.m because we wanted to work late. As the workers returned on tuesday, they saw the doors locked and later Mr. Villehuchet in a pool of blood.
A person close to Mr. Villehuchet told newspapers that he was trying to recover some funds lost to Mr. Madoff to pay his investors. His was awake day and night trying to figure out a way so that his investors would not suffer. La Tribune reported, "It's a farewell from someone who had nothing to be ashamed of. He had tried to obtain good returns for others, with ll the diligence necessary in his job. The truth is that everybody wanted to invest with Madoff, who was considered by all as AAA or totally safe."

The name is even listed on the Arc de Triomphe in Paris, a monument commissioned by Napoleon in 1806. His fund had links to the cream of Europe's high society to garner clients. The cream had some of the top names such as Philippe Junot, a French businessman and friend who is also the former husband of Princess Caroline of Monaco and another name being Prince Michel of the former Yugoslavia. Mr. Villehuchet was the former chairman and chief executive of Credit Lyonnais Securities USA and a member of the New York Yatch Club. His life had a wife with no kids, who lived at the suburb in Westchester County.

Trish Stratus Back On 'WWE Monday Night RAW'
Here we have the return of one of the top wrestlers and people's most loved lady Trish Stratus. Trish resigned from the wrestling in 2006. Her last day was recorded at the WWE on May 5. Trish made an unexpected comeback on last night's WWE MONDAY NIGHT RAW. The event took place in Toronto, where the former WWE Women's Champion teamed up with John Cena and defeated Santino Marella and his partner Beth Phoenix.
John Cena was earlier teamed up with Kelly and was awaiting the fight, when Kelly left the hotel building after someone revealed to her that her room was trashed. Cena had to have a partner. He made a call to Trish Stratus, and she arrived on a short call. This replacement was made less than 30 minutes remaining for the fight.
Kobe Bryant wearing low-tops
Bryant unveiled his latest Nike signature shoe Friday night—a low-cut sneaker the league’s reigning MVP donned in a game for the first time when his Los Angeles Lakers visited the Miami Heat. At 11.6 ounces, Nike says it’s the lightest basketball shoe it has created, and Bryant is convinced the switch makes the most sense for his game.
“It feels great, feels great,” Bryant said. “I’m excited about it.”
Mostly all NBA players wear kid or high-cut shoes with an ancle brace to prevent injury but not Kobe. Bryant is sticking with plain old athletic tape for ankle support, and says that’s enough.
High-tops really don’t do much for you,” Bryant said Friday. “If you’re going to roll your ankle, you’re going to roll it. It kind of is what it is. If you come down on somebody’s foot, nothing you can do really about that. I wanted to have more mobility in the ankle, more movement at the foot and a lighter weight shoe, and I got it.”
Bryant was directly involved in the design of the shoe, which will be available in stores in February.
He said he didn’t consult any other players who have worn low-cuts, either now or in the past, about the specifications of the sneaker, which he said has special technology to keep a player’s heel in place—something that was among his most important requests, he said.
“It’s more about what I needed as an athlete, me, myself,” Bryant said. “When I play, how do I feel when I wear the shoe? When I wear high-tops, how did I feel? What would I like to see improve in the shoes? What would I like to see perform better? From that, in our meetings, I would just throw all this stuff to them and they would come back with the technology necessary."

New Generation Traffic Signal
Japan has launched a New Generation Traffic Signal and will be implemented soon. This would be a breakthrough in LED technology and would really help pedestrian's as well as motorist. Accidents would be highly reduced and motorist would start obeying traffic signals. The new technology was introduced and have been proposed to the Japanese government. The company is also looking towards International Orders. There used to be a time, even before Wal-Mart came, there used to be a good old store where kids used to run around, women used to check their fashion goods and husbands used to wait outside. A sad news came to reality when the Woolworths Group announced that it would be closing all its 807 Stores. They revealed that the countdown had started and have kept the deadline January 5 2009' as the closing date.
The Woolworths Group company is a descendant of the original F.W.Woolworth chain that begain in the U.S. in 1879. It opened its first store in Liverpool, England in 1909 and in 1982 there was a split with the British Chain taking its side. Woolworths Group has been operaing at a loss for years. It had a debt estimated at $580 Million. As time passed and in came the recession as well a low show of consumer's, and also no offer's were coming for a buy out, it had to leave everything behind and close it all up.
After 99 Years of being in business, Woolworths, one of the biggest and most known brand in the Britain as well as in U.S. has told that it would be going out of business. The 99 Years had been really great for them, but the sad news was about closing it when no one offered enough cash to buy it out. Eventually they had to close it down. As the closure of its 807 stores would come, some 27,000 employees would be losing their jobs over the Christmas Holidays. Employees were heard as saying that this would be the most miserable Christmas they would ever have and most probably welcoming the New Year being unemployed. I find it so depressing. People have grown up seeing the store." Britons have lost an old friend, the one who was running around for a long while and had families come together.
The first 200 stores will close up on Saturday, December 27 2008, another 200 on December 30 2008 and the further remaining by January 5 2009, which will make the giant sleep. Some 50 Million new stock will be rushed to the stores which includes, DVD's and CD's. Goods have been placed on 20 to 60 percent and it will be increased as the count down comes near. Todd Homme Found Dead
Todd Homme, the 23 Year old make-up artist who is also appearing on the show: Blush The Search For The Next Great Makeup Artist, was found dead in his Manhattan home. A Trend Micro Security Researcher said on Monday that they have traced around 10,000 websites who are taking advantage of this flaw. This flaw in early start was mostly stealing computer game passwords and then it moved forward.
Richard Cox, Chief Information Officer of Anti-Spam body 'The Spamhaus Project' and also an expert on privacy and cyber security said, "It wont be long before someone reverse engineers this exploit for more fraudulent purposes. Trend Micro's advice (of switching to an alternative web browser) is very sensible."
Furthermore he added, "It's a shame Microsoft have not been able to fix this more quickly, but letting people know about this flaw was the right thing to do. If you keep flaws like this quiet, people are put at risk without knowing it. Every browser is susceptible to vulnerabilities from time to time. It's fine to say 'dont use internet explorer' for now, but other browsers may well find themselves in a similar situation."

The protester yelled,"This is your farewell kiss, you dog!" in arabic. The person was Muntadar al-Zeidi, a correspondent for Al-Baghdadia television, an Iraqi-owned station based in Cairo, Egypt.

Google Chrome Finally Out Of Beta
Google's Chrome browser will be finally coming out of the beta phase today. It was officially told at the Le Web '08 conference in Paris by the company's Vice President Marissa Mayer. She confirmed that the release would take place and the status would finally be out of the beta phase.
People who wish to download the Chrome Browser would be the first ones to experience it as no beta version for dowload would be available. The Chrome browser can be directly downloaded from Google's Website. On the first day of its release, only a limited number of Chrome Browser's existing users will get the update link automatically and later on rest of the user's would be able to update it. According to Google sources, they have revealed that a total number of 10 million users are using Chrome as their browser.
To update your browser, you need to check the your browser's About page and it will automatically check for any update available and therefore would prompt you if the update is available. This updating would finally bring your browser out of the beta phase. In the beta phase, the Chrome browser has been update almost 14 times, this is the 15th time and would be the first one for the non-beta release.
So what's the update? According to the Vice President of Product Development, Mr. Sundar Pichai, the release of the Chrome browser consist of tons and tons of bug fixes. All errors previously in the Audio and Video Playback have been fixed and the browser has been made more fast since it release. Microsoft sued for scratch on a game
Jason Johnson just wanted to take a break with some Rock Band. But now he is taking Microsoft to court.
This Illinois man is suing Microsoft because the Xbox 360 scratched 3 of his games to the point when they are unplayable.Johnson first noticed the problem after trying to play store-bought copies of Rock Band, Rock Band 2 and Grand Theft Auto IV. In the suit, he claims to have heard "unnatural, grinding noises while the game disc was spinning," followed shortly by unreadable disc errors. Upon inspection, he found circular scratches running across the data side of the discs.
He right away contacted Microsoft but all the repairs costed him to pay. Microsoft broke the rules and did not help the costumer.
The man is asking for 50,000 dollars in punitive damages as well as legal fees and costs. Microsoft has not officially commented on the case.

On Thursday, two agents from the U.S. Federal Bureau Of Investigation entered Madoff's New York Apartment and arrested him. Mr. Madoff said,"There is no innocent explanation. It is all my fault........paid investors with money that wasn't there."
The fraud which is conducted by Mr. Madoff is to be ranked as one of the biggest frauds in history. This is the second fraud at such as huge scale, when in 2001, The Energy Trading Giant "Enron" had filed for bankruptcy. The Enron Fraud was known as the the Biggest Fraud in History ever made.
It has been known that the U.S. Prosecutors have charged Madoff, with a single count of securities fraud, and said that he would be facing 20 years in prison and a fine of $5 Million. "Our complaint alleges a stunning fraud, both in terms of scope and duration. We are moving quickly and decisively to stop the scheme and protect the remaining assets for investors", said Scott Friestad, the SEC's Deputy enforcer.
An investor in the hedge fund said that he generated consistent returns, which was part of the attraction. Since 2004, annual returns averaged around 8 percent and ranged from 7.3 percent to 9 percent, but last decade the returns were in the low-double digits. So what was actually the HEDGE FUND? The fund revealed that it followed a split strike conversion strategy, which entailed owning stock and buying and selling options to limit downside risk. ACER Smartphones To Be Released In First Quarter Of 2009
ACER Smartphones would be released in the first quarter of 2009. This was revealed by the company's chairman JT Wang as he blamed the delay in the release of the smartphones as on going negotiations with the Global carriers were taking too long. ACER has been trying to release the phones since it adopted the E-Ten Information Systems but on the other hand it hasn't provided any concrete information on its Smart Phones.
The handset is developed by Acer's own original smartphone R&D Team and their counterparts from E-Ten. E-Ten Information Systems had been inquired by Acer in September. The Chairman JT Wang, predicts that this segment will be a significant growth area for the company over the next 3-5 Years.
The company has not released any pricing, specifications or geographical details about it yet. However, when ACER took over E-TEN, it did reveal that the smartphone would be windows based. It did also say that the devices would be firstly launched in Western Europe.
The Acer will also be indicting more employees in its company in the Smartphones department. The company will be inserting another 500 employees as well as 200 employees from E-TEN Information Systems. ACER will be focusing on the sale of the Smartphones and E-TEN on the other hand will be looking towards the Real-Time Stock Trading Devices.
Pierce Finally talks to detectives
Antonio Pierce and investigators finally met six days after the accidental shooting of New York Giants teammate Plaxico Burress to discuss events that has entangled the Super Bowl champions.
Authorities provided no details of Pierce’s meeting with police detectives and prosecutors at the Manhattan district attorney’s office.
Pierce practiced Friday, then changed into a white sweatsuit and left Giants Stadium in a Jeep around 1:30 p.m. for the meeting that authorities have anxiously awaited for a week.
The authorities are especially interested in why neither Pierce, who drove Burress to New York-Presbyterian Hospital/Weill Cornell Medical Center, nor Dr. Josyann Abisaab called police to report the shooting. Abisaab has since been suspended for not reporting the gunshot injury, as required by law.

2 Million Pound Lottery Winner Arrested
Callie Rogers who won the U.K lottery at the age of 16 and is the second youngest to win it, got arrested after police raided the property and found thousands of pounds worth of cocaine and a stun gun. It has been five years since she has won the total amount of 1,875,000 pounds. Her life twisted from one drama to another since she won the 2 Million Pound worth lottery.
The twist in the drama came when her new partner, Mr. Ryan Thompson admitted that he was using Ms. Rogers house for dealing cocaine. Alex Goodhind has putten a warm glow, and has kept the Christmas magic on for this year too. This is the 14th year in a row, the IT firm manager has decorated his father's residence in Melksham, Wiltshire into a superbly lit Christmas home.
He paid many workmen to work for him and dug up the road to lay down an industrial power cable, so that the 115,000 fairy lights installed would be lighten up. The lights which are worth more than 30,000 pounds light up the Longford Road everyday from evening till 10 p.m. Last Christmas, the lights billed a total of 700 pound.
Mr. Goodhind has done this all to raise money for a charity. All money donated by people coming in to view it would lead to a cancer charity. He decided to donate the money as his mother died of cancer a few years ago. In the tough economic conditions being faced all around, Mr. Goodhind said "It would have dampened the mood even more if the lights weren't there". He wanted to keep the christmas spirit running and wanted people to think about something else. Everyone needs to be cheered up, this has been a really disturbing year.
