Free agents in the year 2010

The NBA has a stack of people who are going to become free agents in the year 2010.In total the NBA has 23 players who are going to be free agents. Here are a few players.

LeBron James
The Cavs forward has an opt-out from the $17 million in 2010-11 that otherwise would stand as the final season on his rookie contract extension. Of course LeBron is opting out. The only event that would preclude it would be a career-threatening injury, which is why the contract includes the option in the first place.

Dwyane Wade
The Heat guard has an opt-out from the $17 million in 2010-11 that otherwise would stand as the final season on his rookie contract extension. He's not going anywhere ... as long as the Heat is back to competitiveness by then. Why? Because we haven't exactly seen Wade struggling for nationwide marketing appeal from his Miami base.

Chris Bosh
The Raptors forward has an opt-out from the $17 million in 2010-11 that otherwise would stand as the final season on his rookie contract extension.

Kobe Bryant
The Lakers guard has a complex contract that could see him get a jump on the Class of '10. Bryant can terminate his contract on June 30, 2009, with two years at $48 million total remaining, or can opt out from the $24.8 million he otherwise would earn in 2010-11.

Steve Nash
The Suns guard will be coming off a $13.1 million final contract season. Face it, the Suns already aren't the Suns, and certainly won't be in 2010, when teammates Amare Stoudemire, Raja Bell and Shaquille O'Neal will be free agents. Expect the two-time MVP to land somewhere else.

Tracy McGrady
The Rockets guard will be coming off a $22.3 million final contract season. Considering McGrady's injury history (and lack of playoff history), teams will be wary of the per-game payout on any deal.

Joe Johnson
The Hawks guard will be coming off a $15 million final contract season. He could be the consolation prize for those who covet Kobe Bryant.

Amare Stoudemire
The Suns forward has an opt-out from the $17.7 million in 2010-11 that otherwise would stand as the final season on his contract. He could be the consolation prize for those who crave Chris Bosh.

Manu Ginobili
The Spurs guard will be coming off a $10.7 million final contract season. How many pieces will the fearless lefty be in by then?

Shaquille O'Neal
The Suns center will be coming off a $21 million final contract season. How much of a pay cut will pride allow?

Marcus Camby
The Clippers forward will be coming off a $9.7 million final contract season. Exactly what is the value of a free agent who once was traded for nothing?
