Edie Adams Dies At 81


Edie Adams, the award winning actress and singer who won the TONY Award for bringing Daisy Mae to life on the Broadway died at the age of 81.


The death of Edie Adams was confirmed by the Publicist Henri Bollinger who told that she died in Los Angeles from cancer and pneumonia.

Ms. Adams was a graduate from the Juilliard School of Music and hoped to become an opera singer. Instead she earned fame from her sketches with KOVACS and her pivotal roles in the Broadway musicals. She was also well known as the SEXY SPOKESWOMAN for Muriel Cigars in the 1950s and the 1960s.

She had a remarkably varied career in showbiz, performing on stage, in nightclubs and on the large and small screens.  In the 1960s she took her talents to the movies and featured in the movies such as the "The Apartment", "Lover Come Back", "Under The Yum Yum Tree". 

In 1962 she also appeared on ABC with DUKE ELLINGTON. In 1963 she started a show called "Here's Edie", the show recieved Five Emmy Nominations. 

All she did for Televison, Stage and the Movies will remain on one side but she made her presence know most for the MURIEL CIGARS, she was best known and famous from.

She is survived by a son, Joshua Mills.
